We've heard from an on overseas US Air Force member, who has been telling the BBC about the difficulties posed by the federal shutdown. "I must still show up to work but won’t get paid, because if I don’t it’s considered AWOL," they say.
- In the wake of the shutdown, they say they "suddenly" cannot find movers to assist their move before returning to the US. Their visa expires in December.
- They say that the situation has caused "undue strife", and only encourages them to leave the military altogether.
"My father previously did the full 20 [years], mostly overseas, but I’m cutting short that tradition."
